Thriving Christmas Events - Themes & Outfits

Updated: Dec 9, 2022

Christmas provides opportunities for all the fun. Shopping for outfits, and planning a great party, can often feel like you can never get ahead. Thriving Christmas is here to help.

Good luck getting your Christmas shopping in with the never-ending parties that are about to implode your calendar. We like the fun, but that night of fun can be a lot of work. The right outfit, the right recipe, the right host, or the best white elephant gift. You can't forget about your kids too. School holiday programs, Christmas cards, teacher's gifts...the list goes on. I am the youngest of four kids, an aunt to seven nieces and nephews and I love to host a good party. Here are some ideas to be the hostess with the mostest or the best of the guests. Don't leave all the planning to the last minute, start here and minimize your stress.

Be the best dressed, the best guest, or the best host this holiday season.

Do I host a party? What is the theme? What do I wear? Why did I sign up for this? YOU GOT THIS!!!

Let's Party - Top Christmas Party Themes

So...you have decided to be the hostess with the mostess. But what theme do I go with? If you couldn't tell, I am a big fan of knowing your audience.

Here are some top Christmas Party Themes and your target guest list.

Ugly Sweater - Things are about to get UGLY. Grab your most offensive sweater and get ready for a night of fun with friends. Some people get really into it, even theming their shoes and hair. Include a voting box so that the best sweater gets a prize. DIY is not my thing, but if you are crafty there are tons of good ideas on Pinterest. This theme is best reserved for friends, family, and neighbors that you are close with. Less class, more fun!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas (Red will also do) - This party is centered around wine being the cocktail of choice. Set a price point and have your guests bring a decent bottle of wine or two. Cater your audience to co-workers, family, and close friends. Everyone will get to try some different wines and you might find a new favorite. Is wine not your thing and you don't know where to start? Head over to Instagram and follow @wine_snobbs. Wine Snobs Sommelier keeps its reels informative and to the point to ensure that even the most novice of wine drinkers can find a wine that suits their palate.

DIPMAS - Highly underrated in my opinion. The star of this party is the dip. Have each of your guests bring their favorite dip. Taco, buffalo chicken, crack, jalapeño popper, I could go on for hours. You can theme this with any party whether it's an Ugly Sweater, Jingle, and Mingle, etc. Dipmas will get your guests socializing. The audience is great for a mixed bag of contacts such as coworkers, friends, and neighbors.

Seriously, What do I wear? Christmas party outfits and children's clothes.

This part I LOVE! There is nothing better than looking at the part this Christmas Season. My brother sometimes jokes at me, did you just have kids to put them in outfits? No...I did not endure multiple pregnancies and fighting over homework just to dress my kids. However, I do consider it a bonus.

Ugly Sweaters - On a budget? Try your local thrift store. There are always options.

Kid Clothes

Runners up! - Pottery Barn, Target & Carters - You can't go wrong with any of these stores. They shine at being able to accommodate matching pajamas for the entire family. Having kids spanning from ages 1-5, a zip-up onesie is not the best option for everyone. The flexibility allows for to choose what works best for each member of your family.
