Here are some top options for Christmas in Colorado.
Gaylord Rockies - located by DIA
The Gaylord has so much to offer during Christmas. There is an abundance of activities for the kids. Pictures with Santa, Gingerbread houses, snow tubing, ice skating, and even a pool for overnight guests. You can dine with characters for brunch on the weekends and enjoy several onsite restaurants. Adults can indulge in cocktails with bars placed conveniently throughout the Resort. Feeling stressed? Book a massage at the Spa. Even if you are on a budget, enjoying the beautiful decor and walking the resort is worth it.
Polar Express/Santa Train Ride- located in Canyon City
Are you lucky enough to hear Tom Hank's voice all December long, or is my son the only one who is that obsessed? Colorado has several options for Christmas trains, but I have only gone to two. Between the Colorado Railroad Museum and the Royal Gorge Train, I felt that the Royal Gorge Train gave me more bang for my buck. Hop onboard the train, have some hot cocoa and experience the magic. After you ride through Santa's Village, he will board the train. The conductors and staff make the entire experience super fun.

Hire a Santa - Okay hear me out...
A few years back we were invited to a private Santa event put on by our local areas subdivision. Did my daughter scream bloody murder, yes, but it was still a great time? Fast forward to the next year, I thought those mall photos are expensive and honestly not all that great. Also, lines! Now each year my neighbors and I with young kids host a Santa at our house. Everyone gets great photos, the experience calms anxious kids and it feels very intimate. After everyone chips in we actually end up paying less than we would have spent at the mall. Over the years we all stepped up our game to create those perfect holiday moments. What is cooler than Santa reading you The Night Before Christmas in your own home? Need an easy food idea, this is a great time to pull in another one of my favorite Christmas traditions...DIPMAS. My favorite part of any party is always the dip. More to come on that on the holiday party planning post (ugly sweaters & dipmas).
St. Nick's Christmas & Collectibles- located in Littleton
It is worth the trip if you haven't been to St. Nick's. In its 22 rooms, hundreds of Christmas trees are decorated top to bottom in ornaments There is a ton of decor, villages, and even a custom design and bow section. We have made it a tradition each year to buy one ornament from the store and have it personalized right there on-site. We love it because each year when trimming the tree we remember what was special about that year. We have reminders of our first year in our house, the birth of our kids, and the first year of ballet and tee-ball.
